First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo cutting the 10th anniversary cake with other dignitaries
The First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has urged hairdressers and beauticians to show interest in creativity.
She said it was important for them to have a firm understanding of tried-and-tested modern techniques for them to sustain their relevance and be competitive in the ever-growing business of lifestyle and fashion across the world.
“The truth is that you have to be always relevant. This means continuous enhancement of your skills and knowledge,” she said.
Mrs. Akufo-Addo was speaking at the 10th Annual Salon Academy organized by the National Association of Beauticians and Hairdressers (NABH) in Accra to take stock of its achievements and map out the way forward.
The event was used to celebrate the association’s achievements in the education and training of its members.
Speaking on the theme: “Skills Enhancement, the Medium for National Development”, Mrs. Akufo-Addo urged the association to organize online courses to afford its members the ability to learn from successful people in the industry.
She entreated them to make plans and set goals for their businesses and also learn proper accounting and financial management.
Besides, she took the opportunity to advise them to take proper care of their health by finding time to do thorough medical check-ups.
“It is also important to take good care of your health. Find time to do thorough medical check-ups periodically, including checking for breast and cervical cancer and your HIV status,” she stressed.
