Sidney, Ghana’s most controversial hiplife artiste, says he still stands by his statement that Reggie Rockstone is the godfather of hiplife music in Ghana, but not the originator.
He disclosed that Reggie has been considered as the godfather of hiplife because he was the first Ghanaian artiste to release hiplife rap music album and named it hiplife, adding that it was recently that some journalists started tagging him as the originator of hiplife music.
In an interview with BEATWAVES last Friday, he mentioned that that before Reggie came out with hiplife music album, there were some other artistes, including Mahoney Pee, doing rap music without an album on the market.
“Reggie Rockstone came in to repackage rap music in Ghana and branded it hiplife music,” he reiterated.
Sidney added that since hiplife music came into existence, it has gained popularity throughout African countries and abroad, especially in UK, Canada, Germany, among others.
