Regional Minister Justina Owusu Awo Banahene laid wreath on behalf of government and people of Ghana
BONO REGIONAL Minister, Justina Owusu Awo Banahene last Saturday joined old veterans and security agents to commorate the 78th Remembrance Day Parade observance for fallen heroes who died in line of duty during the first and second world wars and also during other international peacekeeping duties otherwise known as 11/11 in Sunyani.
As part of activities marking the day, the regional minister laid a wreath on behalf of the government and people of the country at the forecourt of VAG Hall at the Sunyani Municipal Assembly while heads of security agents such also laid one on behalf other security services and Nana Kwame Adai Kuntuma the IV Nifahene of Sunyani Traditional Council laid one on behalf of the chiefs and people of the region.
Regional Chairman of the Veteran Association of Ghana (VAG), Ex WO1 Kwarteng Daniel laid the last one on behalf of the Veterans Association of Ghana.
Preaching the sermon, chaplain of 3BN Garrison church, Captain Dominic Prince Yeboah said the day was to remember and respect the fallen heroes who laid down their lives in war torn countries of the world in service of the nation.
He condemned war saying war leaves in its wake death, homeless children and properties destroyed.
‘That is why it is good to seek peace. Our fallen heroes could not sit and look so had to go and save lives and properties and as a result had to die and as a sign of respect we have to honour them today.”
The regional minister after closing interacted with members of the veterans association and assured them of government continues support for their welfare to plan and provide for their welfare.
