Rioting Students Damage Cars – REGSEC Shuts Down School

SEVERAL PROPERTIES, including cars, have reportedly been damaged by students at the Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational School in the Ashanti Region.

The students, reports said, were angry over their poor performance in an examination, supervised by the National Board for Professional and Technician Examinations (NABPTEX).

On Sunday morning, the students, in unison, started to cause damage to anything on sight in protest. Within few hours, the protesting students damaged several properties.

Sources in the school disclosed that a number of vehicles, belonging to teachers in the school, had their windscreens smashed. Some of the cars were even turned upside down.

The rampaging students, who were bent on causing massive destruction in the school, also destroyed several properties, including louvre blades and food items.

According to reports, it took the intervention of the police before law and order was eventually restored to the school, which for some hours, was virtually turned into a war zone.

Some students of the school and residents from the town, where the school is located, who took part in the destruction spree, are reported to have been arrested to assist in investigations.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) after assessing the situation, said the school is not safe for teaching and learning so it should be closed.
