Richard Nii Armah Quaye, Founder of RNAQ Youth Foundation, has donated GH¢500,000 to the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment to support government in the fight against drug abuse, especially the use of opioids among the youth.
Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, in March launched the National Youth Anti-Drug Campaign, dubbed “Ghana Against Drugs (GAD) – Red Means Stop,” to combat substance abuse among the youth.
Presenting the cheque to the ministry, Mr. Armah Quaye, who employs over 4,000 Ghanaian youth, said the gesture demonstrates the foundation’s commitment to collaborate with government to help address opioid abuse among the youth.
RNAQ Youth Foundation, which focuses on providing social justice to the deprived, forgotten, and marginalised, has been working to provide 360-degree support to vulnerable communities.
Among some of its support include establishment of food banks in Accra, with plans to expand the programme to other regions, aimed at supporting the less privileged in the country.
The minister, who thanked RNAQ Foundation for the support, also pledged to work with the foundation to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and youth empowerment, to create opportunities to support the development of the youth.
He said his vision is to address the challenges faced by young people, provide opportunities for growth and development, as well as empowering the youth to be able to compete globally.
