The damaged office window
POLICE ARE on a manhunt for some suspected armed robbers who yesterday reportedly attacked Star Oil Filling Station at Todjeh, a suburb of Kasseh, in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra Region.
Information gathered by DAILY GUIDE indicates that the robbers engaged the private security men of the filling station in a shootout upon seeing them.
In the process, one of the robbers, who was wielding an Automatic Kalashnikov (AK47) assault rifle, pump action gun and a pistol, was believed to have sustained bullet wounds. For fear of losing their lives, they bolted into a nearby bush.
Properties of the filling station such as glazing windows of the office also got damaged from bullets.
The robbers were believed to be hiding in the bush around Todjeh, Kadjah Dogobom, Kpotameh Afidenyigba, Asigbkope, Detserkope, Tamatoku and its surrounding communities.
The private security men, according to details, became very vigilant upon suspecting a particular car that frequently passed in front of the station.
Last Sunday at about 1: 30 am, the suspects were said to have stormed the filling station to rob when the vigilance of the company’s security officers resulted in gun battle between them, consequently injuring one of the robbers.
Health facility and private healing centres have been encouraged to inform the police after suspicion.
The Kasseh police have since been investigating the issue to unravel the robbers behind the incident.
Superintendent Timothy Dassah indicated the police were on a manhunt for the robbers and therefore appealed to residents in the region, especially health facilities, to be on the guard for men who may report with gunshot wounds for dressing and alert the police.
