Rocky Dawuni
US-based Ghanaian reggae artiste Rocky Dawuni is the headline artiste for this year’s edition of Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) in Zimbabwe.
HIFA is a six-day annual festival that showcases the very best of local, regional and international arts and culture in a comprehensive festival which includes theatre, dance, music, circus, street performance, fashion, spoken word and visual arts.
This will be Rocky’s first time performing in Zimbabwe at the festival which will take place in Harare from May 2 to May 7.
Rocky Dawuni and his 11-piece band will perform some of their greatest hits that represent a fusion of reggae, soul and traditional African sounds at the event.
A number of African artistes have also been invited to rock the stage alongside Rocky Dawuni.
Named one of Africa’s top 10 global stars by CNN, Rocky Dawuni has showcased his talent at prestigious venues such as The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center and The Hollywood Bowl.
Rocky will be performing at the LEAF Festival in Black Mountain, North Carolina, on May 13 and 14, 2017 in the United States. He will also be embarking on a three-day teaching course titled ‘music and creative activism’ for the youth as part of the festival.
HIFA is now the largest cultural event in Zimbabwe and among the eight major festivals in Africa.
