Rosemond Koomson
Despite claims that local Twi movies are the most patronized in Ghana’s movie market and as a result, actors in these movies are making a fortune, talented actress, Rosemond Koomson, does not quite agree with this perception.
The actress, in an exclusive interview said said the hullabaloo about local movies selling is not reflective in the lifestyle and pockets of her and her colleagues in the acting business.
The actress, who has been acting in such local movies for the past years, said the industry players are struggling to earn a living in the movie industry.
She added “If our industry is like that of Nigeria, USA or India, I would have taken acting as my full time profession. Acting in Ghana is not a thing to depend on for a living.”
According to her, “I am not saying our movie industry is not good. It is developing.
New things are coming up and every now and then we are seeing new faces. Honestly, to me, it is not something one can depend on”.
She disclosed that she has currently registered a fashion company which will be launch very soon.
Rosemond however said “The journey has been challenging because there are a whole lot of other colleagues who want to overtake me and I had to put extra efforts to maintain my position. I have also learnt a lot from the industry”.
She described her stay in the local movie industry as one devoid of sexual experiences though there were claims of producers engaging young actresses in sex bouts in exchange for movie roles.
She hinted that she has personally not been confronted with such a situation, adding that no producer has attempted to get her into bed before a role.
“No producer has chased me for sex. If you want it then you will get”, she stated.
