The Southern Africa Development Corporation (SADC) is reportedly planning to deploy some 3,000 troops in Mozambique.
The announcement comes as Southern Africa leaders held talks in Mozambique.
The planned deployment is to help crackdown on islamist insurgency in the country.
Local media reports say the consideration was made at the extraordinary summit of the regional bloc SADC. The summit took place in Mozambique’s capital Maputo.
The insurgency broke out in 2017 and has since escalated.
