Samira walking through the streets of Kumasi CBD
Security personnel with the Second Lady, Mrs. Samira Bawumia, found it extremely difficult controlling traders at the Central Business District (CBD) when she stormed the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi.
Along with the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, alias Chairman Wontumi, some traders in ecstasy surrounded the Second Lady amidst singing and dancing to an NPP campaign song, which was being played in a van that was following them.
The Second Lady and her entourage walked through some principal streets of Adum and headed towards Hello FM, an affiliate of the Despite Group of Companies.
Samira Bawumia also interacted with the traders who followed her on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Some residents in the area took the opportunity to take selfies with the Second Lady, while others also meandered their way through to shake hands with her, like the woman with the issue of blood in the Bible.
For about 20 minutes, vehicles stood still, with passersby also finding it hard to walk through the thick crowd.
The security personnel exhibited professionalism in ensuring the safety of the Second Lady, while making sure the excited traders also had time to talk to her.
“God has blessed us with this beautiful and respected lady, and she is fit to be our First Lady after December 7,” said one trader who gave her name as Adwoa Foriwaa.
Ashanti Region has been a stronghold of the NPP since its establishment, and a determinant of the party’s winning power during every election.
As Ghana goes to polls on Saturday December 7, many residents in the region are eager to exercise their franchise to elect the next president to lead the nation in the next four years.
Even though the main opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC), is in the region to garner votes, it seems electorates in the region are still ready to vote massively for the NPP.
“I vowed not to vote in this general election, but the numerous commissioning of projects by Nana Akufo-Addo has changed my mind, and I am going to be the first person to cast my vote on Saturday,” said a phone seller who gave his name as Sky G at Adum.
