Samira Visits Fulani C’tties

The Second Lady, Hajia Samira Bawumia, has paid a visit to the Fulani communities at Techiman and its surrounding towns and villages.

Led by the Techiman Municipal Chief Executive, John Kofi Donyina, the Second Lady first paid a courtesy call on the Techiman Traditional Council to greet the chiefs and queenmothers of the traditional area.

She told the chiefs and queenmothers that her mission was to visit the Fulani communities to thank them for supporting her and the NPP during the electioneering campaign.  She said before the 2016 election, she promised to come back to them after the election, for which reason she has visited them.

According to Madam Samira, the NPP government is on course as far as the management of the economy is concerned and that things will change for the better sooner than later, adding that “what is required from Ghanaians is patience”.

A jubilant crowd met the Second Lady at a mini durbar held in her honour.  Speaking at the durbar, Hajia Samira charged the Fulani communities to embrace the free SHS programme and take their children to school so that they could also benefit from the programme.

She told the crowd that the Akufo-Addo government was doing wonderful things and that in no time Ghanaians would begin to see the benefit of the sacrifice they are making today.  Besides, she advised them to be law-abiding and avoid doing anything that would bring the name of Fulani people into disrepute.

The Techiman Fulani Chief, Alhaji Ahmed Ali, thanked the Second lady for the visit.  He said if you ask somebody to do something for you and the person keeps his word and does it for you it is proper for you to return to the person and thank him for what he did for you.  By doing that you make the person feel that, indeed, you are grateful.

He said the Fulani community promised Samira when she visited them during the 2016 electioneering campaign that they would vote for the NPP and they did so.  He said “I believe this is not going to be the last visit but more will follow . . .”
