The cheque for GH¢300,000 as displayed at the Manhyia Palace
AUTHORITIES AT the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region, have taken delivery of an amount of GH¢300,000.
The amount was donated by the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council in the Western North Region, and it’s to help support the Heal Komfo Anokye Project.
The Heal Komfo Anokye Project is the brainchild of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and aims to save the old Gee Blocks at KATH from destruction.
A high-powered delegation from Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council donated the money during the Akwasidae festival at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Sunday.
Oheneba Owusu Korkor, Otumfuo Asamponghene, who spoke on behalf of the delegation, said the Sefwi Traditional Council is proud of Otumfuo’s works.
According to him, the Sefwi Wiawso chiefs are aware that most of their people visit KATH in Kumasi for their healthcare needs, hence the need for them to support the project.
The Asamponghene said the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council is also grateful to Otumfuo for building a 600 capacity girl’s dormitory for Sefwi Wiawso SHS.
“Otumfuo is constructing a 600 capacity dormitory for Sefwi Wiawso SHS and the chiefs said they also need to support Otumfuo’s Heal Komfo Anokye Project,” he said.
Otumfuo, who was sitting in state during the Akwasidae festival, was seen nodding his head in appreciation when the Sefwi Wiawso chiefs donated the money.
After the donation, the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council delegation was seen paying homage to the Asantehene, who was looking very cheerful.
