THE NATIONAL Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu on Sunday joined the Muslim Community at Olebu located within the Ga Central Municipality of Accra, to enskin the first ever Zongo chief for the area, Alhaji Alhassan Salifu.

The enskinment was done in accordance with customary law and accordingly approved by the Ga Traditional Leaders of Olebu, who are believed to be the custodian of the locality.

BBC Hausa correspondent for Ghana, Iddi Ali, was installed on the occasion as the Sardauna (Chief of Staff) for the new chief who is said to be a successful businessman.

The Chief Imam who received a rousing welcome, offered Islamic prayers for Chief Salifu and his assistance, hoping that his reign brings about economic empowerment to his subjects.

The new Zongo chief in an interview with Daily Guide on the sidelines of the colorful ceremony characterized by drumming, singing and dancing, pledged to unite his followers.

He said his reign shall witness massive development in Olebu, urging his subjects to rally behind him to ensure the development of the community.

Ga Chief for Olebu, Nii Adotey Amarteifio I in a statement said “Olebu is largely populated by many ethnic groups. So it has become necessary to have leaders of these ethnic groups to come together to build the Olebu community.
