Kurt Okraku and Shatta Wale
Ghana football chief Kurt Okraku says he has something in common with dancehall star Shatta Wale, known in private life as Charles Nii Armah Mensah.
Notwithstanding the difference in their careers, he attributed their humble beginnings as the main characteristic that places the two on the same page.
He stated that their religious background as devout followers of Christ is another common denominator.
He said ‘Kill Them With Prayers’, one of Shatta’s hit tracks, as his official campaign song for the GFA presidential race was a pointer to his strong admiration for the artiste.
Again, the two met when Kurt triumphed at the GFA polls and they have since concreted their bond.
“He is a friend and I like him a lot. His words inspire me a lot and I think we have something in common. We have both come from ground zero and have reached a place where we can both impact society. Kill them with prayers,” Kurt told Ghanaweb.
The outspoken artiste is highly noted for chastising his colleague musicians, but to Kurt separating Shatta from his persona is key to making a better judgment.
“Shatta Wale is a Christian. He is a devout Christian and it is important that people see the artiste Shatta Wale and the human being Shatta Wale,” he added.
The GFA boss was among the many ‘big boys’ who saluted Muslims across the globe to mark the Eid-ul-Fitr, tweeting on the FA’s page, “May Allah guide and protect you. May Allah grant you grace and the desires of your heart.
On the part of the entire association, they have shared, “Eid Mubarak to our Muslim footballers, officials, fans and to all Muslims across the world!
“On this day all may Allah accept our prayers, sacrifices, and good deeds, and may he grant us peace, happiness, and prosperity.”
Likewise, Shatta tweeted, “Happy Eid Mubarak to all Muslims across the world. Shatta Movement appreciates y’all prayers and love.”
