Shatta Wale Sweeps Three Awards At IRAWMA

Popular Ghanaian Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, credited with a number of hit songs, has won big at the just-ended 42th International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) which took place on March 30, 2025 at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, 2855 Coral Springs FL, USA.

At the awards ceremony, Shatta Wale won three major awards; Best African Dancehall Entertainer, Best Music Video (‘Killa Ji Mi’), and Best Crossover Song (‘Commando’ ft. Bounty Killer).

Shatta Wale is no stranger to the IRAWMA, with a storied history of wins at the prestigious awards.

His previous victories include: Best New Entertainer (2014), Best African Song/Entertainer (2016), Special IRAWMA Award of Honour (2018). Best Music Video (2019), Best Afrobeat Entertainer (2019) and Best Virtual Entertainer of the Year (2021).

In an Instagram post, Shatta Wale expressed gratitude to the organisers of the awards for recognising his efforts, and thanked fans for their support.

“Massive thanks to the IRAWMA Family for constantly recognising the craft and pushing the culture forward. To Mr. Ephraim Martin, thank you for creating this incredible platform that celebrates artists like me. To my amazing fans worldwide – this is our win. Your love and support keeps me going. Let’s keep raising the flag higher. Africa to the world,” he said.
