Senior high school students in the Akuapim South Constituency who are enjoying free education could not hold their excitement when President Akufo-Addo visited the constituency yesterday.
He was on the campus of Aburi Girls Senior High School, and students mostly drawn from Aburi Girls’ SHS, Adonten SHS, Aburi Sec/Tech, Diaspora Girls’ SHS and Obodan SHS lined up on the shoulders of the road chanting “4Mour For Nana!”, “4More To Do More!”
The President responded with a wave of his four fingers, signifying ‘four more’ years.
Addressing a charged crowd, President Akufo-Addo said the NPP has the blueprint to Ghana’s development and his administration has laid a solid foundation for a smooth take-off of the economic development of the country.
Aburihene, Otobuor Gyan Kwasi II, who attended the event, endorsed President Akufo-Addo for his good works and identified him as one of their own kinsmen.
Explaining his reasons, the chief said, “Just as Atta Mills said you need to support your own and Nana Akufo-Addo is a true son of Okuapeman and our own, therefore, we need to support him so he can continue with his good work, so four more for Nana!”
The Aburihene commended President Akufo-Addo for the implementation of the Free SHS policy among others, saying he believes that the sitting President deserves another term to continue his good work.
He later honoured him with the conferment of the title of ‘Ghana Manwerehene’, calling on Ghanaians to give him the ‘four more to do more’.
President Akufo-Addo said, “I am happy at your reception and endorsement and I am honestly grateful for your love and acceptance,” and continued that “I will also add that if you are all are satisfied with my work and I didn’t come to deceive any of you within the four years that I have served you, and I have done tremendously well, then I plead with you to grant me the opportunity to be your President again, so I can continue the good work I have started.”
Excellent Performance
The President applauded the first batch of beneficiaries of the Free SHS for their excellent showing in the 2020 West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), saying, “I am reliably informed that the WASSCE results of Aburi Girls’ Senior High School, and, indeed, of all 2020 SHS graduates, was extremely impressive. Those who claimed that the policy was not achievable must be very ashamed now. I will shelve that conversation for now so we deal with it another day.”
The President continued, “However, I wish to congratulate all the students for their brilliant performance in WASSCE examinations.”
NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Akuapim South, Osei Bonsu Amoah aka OB Amoah and his colleague Members of Parliament, parliamentary candidates in the Okuapeman traditional area, including Samuel Ayeh-Paye of Ayensuano and Dan Botwe of Okere, promised to deliver a resounding victory for President Akufo-Addo and the NPP on December 7 at the polls.
Skirt & Blouse
On Sunday, at party mini rallies in Tafo in the Abuakwa North Constituency where GiftyTwum-Ampofo is the NPP Parliamentary Candidate and Begoro in the Fanteakwa North Constituency where Kwabena Amankwah Asiamah is the parliamentary candidate, the President urged his supporters not to vote any independent candidate anywhere, even if they come using his name for campaign purposes.

President Akufo-Addo asked all well-meaning Ghanaians and supporters who would or want to vote for him and the NPP not to do ‘skirt and blouse’.
‘Skirt and blouse’ in local political parlance means voting for a presidential candidate and at the same time voting for a parliamentary candidate who is not from the presidential candidate’s party.
That, he said, was because he does not recognise let alone support any independent parliamentary candidate going into the December 7, 2020 general elections, and that “wherever the elephant is, there shall the baby elephant be!”
His reason was that in the NPP, which is guided by the dictates of democracy, every position is subjected to a contest, and that he even contested and was elected for his position.
Instead, he said they should vote for all NPP Parliamentary Candidates in every constituency across the nation because the NPP would need a majority in the legislature in order to do more for the country.
