Sylvester Mensah andĀ former President John Dramani Mahama
Virtually all candidates supporting the re-election of former President John Dramani Mahama in the La-Dade Kotopon Constituency failed to win their various positions on Saturday.
Candidates who emerged victorious at the end of the contest are all said to belong to the camp of Sylvester Mensah, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), who intends to challenge Mr. Mahama for the flagbearership position.
Sources told DAILY GUIDE that members of the pro-Mahama group, who lost the election, are Nii Sowah Odoi, who was seeking to become chairman; Dzifa Gunu, Daniel Odotei Oddoye, Secretary and Deputy Secretary aspirants respectively; Robert Kwaku Mensah Din, Organizer aspirant; Raymond Amasah Mensah, Deputy Organizer aspirant; Prince Oko-Addo, Treasurer aspirant; Solomon Quaye, Deputy Treasurer hopeful; John Nartey Doku, Communications Officer candidate and Blay Ameyedow, Deputy Communications Officer contender.
The rest were Edward Atsu Dela-Seshie, Youth Organizer hopeful; Naa Dromo Barnes, Deputy Youth Organizer candidate; Beatrice Mawusi Ladzekpo, Women Organizer aspirant; Elenor Abeley Abben, Deputy Women Organizer aspirant.
Frank Tubua Adjetey, Chester Mortoo, Ernestina Akwelley Hammond, Edudzi Kofi Hanyabui and Jones Adoboe were also not elected as executive members.
Apart from Frank Tubua and Ernestina Hammond, all the pro-Mahama candidates lost their positions in the elections.
The newly-elected executives are expected to steer the affairs of the opposition party in the constituency for the next four years.
The Mahama group took to social media to accuse Sly Mensah of playing ethnic card against Dzifa Gunu, an ardent supporter of Mahama.
The winners are Alhaji OB, Chairman-elect; Lartey Kwei Sam, Vice Chairman; Edem Atsu, Secretary; Nabi Adjo Vice Secretary; Robert Mensah, Organizer; Ernest Tetteh, Deputy Organizer; Tina Abbey, Women Organizer; Helena Amarh, Deputy Women Organizer; Ken Anderson, Youth Organizer and his deputy, Naa Dromo; Treasurer, Raphael Ativi; Deputy Treasurer, Vodi Kumedzro; Communication Officer, Husna Ako; Deputy Communication Officer, Nii Klu Klufio.
The executive members are Frank Tubua, Solomon Yemoh, Ako Nai Alimatu, Henry Addo Ankama, Alfredos Anyetei and Philip Tetteh.
La Dade-Kotopon was part of the 16 constituencies whose elections were initially suspended over irregularities.
