A 26-YEAR-old driver, who was reportedly driving his Daewoo Matiz car at top speed, has died after he crashed the vehicle into a fence on the shoulder of the road.
Francis Abrokwa, the now deceased driver, was driving from the A-life traffic light towards Adum direction in Kumasi at 10:30pm on October 21, 2023 when disaster struck.
The driver sustained life-threatening injuries after the crash, and was rushed to the hospital by some Good Samaritans, but he unfortunately died.
The body has since been deposited in a mortuary at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi for preservation and autopsy, a police report sighted by the paper, noted.
“On 21/10/23 at about 10.30pm, suspect driver, aged 26, now deceased, was driving Daewoo Matiz private car number AS-4104-21 from A-life traffic light towards Adum direction.
“On reaching Adum Nsuase, it was alleged suspect driver was speeding and as a result, he lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road and ran into a fence wall in front of a building opposite Elyon Towers at Adum Nsuase, causing damage to same.
“Suspect driver, now deceased, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to KATH accident and emergency unit but was pronounced dead on arrival at the said facility. Body deposited at the same hospital morgue for autopsy,” the report said.
The mangled accident car has since been “towed to the station, and the same impounded for further action. Deceased relatives have also been located and informed accordingly.”
