In a bid to maintain good working relationship between ECG and the good people of Yilo and Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region, the power distribution company, Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has organised fun games between various stakeholders in the Krobo District.

The fun games with some football teams from selected communities within Krobo were held at Yilo Krobo Senior High School (YIKROSEC) with participating teams drawn from ECG/Military, Kpogunor,
Kpong, Akro, Somanya Police and
YIKROSEC.

After the group stage fixtures, the Somanya Police faced ECG/Military for a semi final and ECG/Military won

The second semi final match was between YIKROSEC and Kpong and Kpong won.

The final was between ECG/Military and Kpong. ECG/Military won with 5-3 penalties.

Speaking with the media, Sekyiwaa Mensah, Public Relations Officer of ECG, Tema Region explained that because Sports serve as a unifying activity, hence this is one way of enhancing the now smooth working relationship between ECG and the customers/public in the District to appreciate the beauty of working hand in hand.

She believes that this will serve as a reconcilatory activity and also to have fun with a cross section of the public.

Ing. Emmanuel Akinie, General Manager, ECG Tema Region, said the Management of the Electricity Company of Ghana, Tema Region, has appealed to the people of Manya and Yilo Krobo to exercise patience as its engineers speed up work to rectify all challenges in the area.

The Regional Manager plea follows some customers seeking to purchase power onto their prepaid meters but were unable due to network challenges.

According to the Tema ECG boss, management was working tirelessly to fix these challenges and expand prepaid vending stations in the Krobo enclave to improve accessibility.

The introduction of prepaid meters by the Electricity Company of Ghana to the Lower Manya and Yilo Krobo municipalities was faced with resistance but after months of continuous community engagement progress was made.
