Standard Chartered, through its Employee Volunteering Week, has implemented a series of activities impacting over 1000 youth, and equipping them with skills for personal and professional development.

Employee volunteering is an initiative of the bank where employees get a 3-day mandatory leave to support a worthwhile cause.

This skill-based volunteering included workshops and mentoring sessions tailored for students, persons in underserved communities, entrepreneurs, business owners and job seekers living with disabilities.

At the forefront of the bank’s comprehensive approach was a digital marketing masterclass tailored for entrepreneurs, business owners, and job seekers living with disabilities.

Students from tertiary institutions benefited from a skills development workshop that covered an array of essential topics. From personal branding and sales skills to financial literacy and future planning, the sessions equipped young adults with the tools necessary for success in the modern workplace.

The workshop also delved into job market preparation and the impact of AI on work, ensuring students are well-prepared for the evolving professional landscape.

Environmental sustainability was another key focus, with the bank engaging students from the Kanda Cluster of Schools.

Through mentoring and hands-on recycling activities, Standard Chartered employees emphasised the importance of climate change awareness and the potential for young people to make a significant impact on environmental conservation.

Similar engagement initiatives were carried out at the Nii Amugi Cluster of Schools and St. Maurice Catholic Church, extending the bank’s positive influence.

For university students entering the job market, Standard Chartered offered invaluable career preparation sessions. These focused on crafting compelling CVs, mastering interview skills, and strategies for making a positive impact in the workplace, setting students up for success in their future careers.
