Big Brother Naija Season 9 delivered the most dramatic eviction show yet, with not one but two pairs being sent home.
Streeze and Floruish were evicted, with the latter’s eviction seeing their rivals openly celebrate and taunt them as they made their way out of Biggie’s house.
It capped off what Ebuka called “a wild week of fun” that also gave us screaming matches, sibling rivalries and a Big Brother first, where the immunity challenge holders were also the heads of house.
When asked why they had been evicted, both members of Streeze (Mayor Frosh and Toby Forge) believed they were a threat to their fellow housemates, with Toby saying: “The haters will continue to hate.”
For Floruish, (DJ Flo and Rhuthee), it was a bit more emotional, with Rhuthee initially struggling to express her feelings as she seemed to hold back tears. DJ Flo chose to see the silver lining: “The plan was to stay until the end, but I am grateful for how far we have come. Moving on from here, the world is ours and we’ll take it over.”
With two pairs eliminated in one go, that leaves 10 duos to battle it out for another week in hopes of getting closer to that impressive GH¢100,000 grand prize.
Also up for eviction this week were Radicals (Fairme David and Michky, for the third week in a row), and Beta (Ben and Tjay), with the latter being saved from possible eviction by this week’s custodians, twin sisters and deejays Wanni x Handi.
When Ebuka asked Handi how she felt about fellow housemates calling her and Wanni’s friendship with Shaun a “throuple”, she was visibly upset, saying: “It’s nobody’s business – everyone should do what they came to this house to do and keep me, Shaun and my sister’s relationship out of their mouths. Period.”
Ebuka did not let an inkling of tribalism in the house slide, calling out Tjay for controversial remarks he had made in the house about other housemates.
Long-time friends Nelita (Anita and Queen Nelly) had an eventful week: they were heads of house and immunity challenge holders, a BB Naija first. Anita celebrated her birthday this week, while Queen Nelly had a hard time with some housemates as co-HoH.
In addition to the double eviction shocker, Sunday night’s BB Naija eviction show introduced more changes to the game: it marked the end of the custodian challenge, with all three custodian boxes now open.
FromMonday night the housemates will nominate each other for eviction, returning ultimate power to the viewers as their votes determine who will go home this Sunday.
As for the highly contested Head of House (HoH) throne? It will no longer be decided by ballot, meaning that the head of house challenge is back. And while the HoH will also win immunity, they will have no influence over game play.
