Frederick Faidoo
Some residents in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis have praised President John Mahama for nominating Lawyer Frederick Faidoo as the new Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for the metropolis.
They described the president’s appointment as a well-thought-out one despite the initial opposition from some regional executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“Lawyer Faidoo is a fine gentleman, competent, capable, and visionary with the ability to manage and develop the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA),” they stated.
In an interview, Lord Tawiah, a staunch member of the NDC, congratulated the nominee.
Mr. Tawiah said he is optimistic about the capabilities of the nominee, who was the parliamentary candidate of the NDC in the last general election.
He then urged the people of Sekondi- Takoradi to rally behind the nominee.
“We are grateful to President Mahama for the appointment. We the youth are proud of him because of his good track record as a lawyer,” he said.
Nat Addo, another resident, was also excited about the confidence President Mahama has reposed in the nominee.
“This appointment is accepted by all. The nominee has contributed consistently towards the development of the area. He is competent and we believe he will serve the President and the metropolis well,” he said.
He stressed that the assembly is endowed with many resources that needed a visionary MCE to turn around, for the betterment of residents.
He revealed that the nominee has served the NDC in the constituency well and has remained committed to the party.
He further called on the assembly members and other stakeholders to throw their weight behind Mr. Faidoo and join hands to put the metropolis on a higher pedestal.
