The organisers of the Ghana Music Awards USA (GMA-USA) have entered into a partnership with TapTap Send, a money sending vendor, to host this year’sĀ edition of the event.
The awards scheme, just in three years, has been able to secure two major headline deals for their events.
Last year, the scheme secured a deal with Angel Group of Companies, producers of Adonko products and Next Level Energy Drinks.
This year the scheme has announced TapTap Send as its headline sponsor.
In an interview, the awards Chief Executive Officer (CEO), also of Dons Music Production, Dennis Boafo, also known as Don D in the entertainment circles, said āwe are proud of ourselves, and very happy to knowĀ companies see our efforts towards promoting Ghanaian culture, heritage and music in the diaspora. I can say on authority that, through GMA-USA last year, Adonko gained prominence and notoriety in America.ā
TapTap Send is a no-fee money sending vendor based in some European countries, Asia andĀ America. It is an app based platform that allows you to send money to family and friends in Africa.
According to him, he strongly believe their sponsorship this year will help the scheme change the narrative when it comes to awards in the diaspora.
āWe need companies like this to invest in Ghanaian owned businesses in the diaspora in order to project and promote our culture and heritage to the whole world,ā he said.
This Year’s GMA-USA announcement of nominees will come off at The Grand Roosevelt Ballroom on 2 Hudson Street Yonkers, New York on April 16.
The main event is slated for August at a venue to be disclosed during the announcement of nominees.
GMA-USA is designed to celebrate and honour Ghanaian entertainers in and outside the country, and aims to extend the reach of the Ghanaian music industry at home and abroad.
The awards ceremony will see some musical works from Ghana and the USA vying for honours in various categories.
