Tech In Ghana Connects Startups Globally

Participants at the conference

THE FOUNDER of Tech in Ghana, Akosua Annobil, has stated that since the inception of Tech in Ghana Conference, it has connected many tech start-ups to the global space, enabling them to expand their reach.

She said that over the past seven years, the space has witnessed significant growth of Ghana’s tech ecosystem due to the contribution of the conference, which is keen on its mission to strengthen, connect, and build an ecosystem by promoting collaboration, nurturing relationships, and creating access opportunities.

“Over the years our relationship has also improved especially with people outside and we have been connecting a lot of Ghanaian startups to opportunities around the world. This has been in France, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, and Morocco, she said.

British High Commissioner to Ghana, Harriet Thompson, said the ongoing support for Tech in Ghana reflects the High Commission’s commitment to a shared vision: leveraging science, technology, and innovation to drive growth and address the pressing challenges we face—both in Ghana and globally.

Addressing the event theme, “Security, Synergy, and Storytelling”, Ms. Thompson said it encapsulates the essence of what we need not only to navigate but also to thrive in today’s world.

She also mentioned that the partnership between the UK and Ghana in science, technology, and innovation is built on synergies, collaboration, and mutual learning, framed around our joint science, technology, and innovation strategy.

She mentioned initiatives like the AI For Development Programme that supports Ghana’s AI strategy through the UK’s Technology Center of Expertise, the Innovate UK Climate Smart Agriculture Partnership and the Research and Innovation Systems Strengthening for Africa (RESA) Fund as key initiatives that play a vital role in building intellectual capacity and providing access to financing within Ghana’s research communities.
