Gyakye Quayson
When the NDC’s attention is drawn to Adamu Sakande, they would be on roof tops that it is a striking difference.
But did Gyakye Quayson in filing his nominations forms with the EC not claim that he was not a Canadian citizen when at the time he had not completed the processes.
We will not comment further but leave the rest for the court.
We believe in the courts for fair adjudication of cases even involving those we support, and if even the cases do not go our way, we shall not bastardise the judiciary as the NDC people always do. For if we disagree with the rulings we have the option to seek redress in a bigger forum.
While they insult the judiciary, they do not feel ashamed to go to higher courts as Tsatsu Tsikata has done by seeking the intervention of the Court of Appeal to overturn the High Court ruling for the daily trial of Gyakye Quayson.
It is not good enough for the NDC to celebrate cases they win and run down judges when they lose cases. That is the beauty of the rule of law and they must develop the attitude to go with the norm.
The NDC must know that Ghanaians are very discerning now and that propaganda and misinformation by their supporters and friends in the media, academia and civil society will not help them.
Going into 2024, propaganda will not win the day as the misinformation of the NDC did not help them in 2016 and 2020. Well, it is difficult for the NDC to wean itself from the propaganda as John Mahama has said that as for politics one has to tell the people a bit of lies and truth.
Ghanaians must be worried about the boycott of Parliament by the NDC Minority although they have the right to use the weapon of protests, demonstrations and boycotts to register their dislike by certain actions of the government.
Ghanaian workers including MPs these days have resorted to strikes to protest what they deem to be an infringement on their rights, but they demand that the state pays them.
Let us look at our laws again that will allow the continuous use of strikes in the working environment, stating clearly that anybody who turns his or her back to work for parochial reasons will be denied remuneration.
But before we get there, we urge those who voted for the NDC MPs not to deny them representation by their resort to boycotts that will not serve their interests in the constituencies. Whatever our differences, we need all hands on deck to prosecute the national agenda.
