President Akufo-Addo worshipping at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church
PRESIDENT NANA Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaians that the economic policies and programmes that his government has rolled out make the economic prospects of the country very bright.
He has therefore, called on the citizenry to unite and support him to develop the nation for the betterment of all.
The president said this last Sunday when he joined the people of Sunyani West to worship at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Nkwabeng, in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
Dwelling on the sermon delivered by the Bishop of the Sunyani Dioceses, Mathew Kwasi Gyamfi, regarding the need to use the culture of diversity and the gift of God given to everyone to develop the country, the president said irrespective of the different tribes and cultures, Ghanaians must come together to support him to develop the country.
According to him, it was good he joined the church on the occasion of the commemoration of the Day of Pentecost and the 20th anniversary celebration of the existence of the Holy Spirit Church. He was mobbed by the congregation with shouts of “Nana o, Nana! Free SHS, Free SHS, Free SHS.”
President Akufo-Addo said, “We thank God our finances are improving; and with the Free SHS, they said could not happen, we have implemented it with the first years. This September, the second years will join, then third. By the end of the four years, we would have implemented all the promises. They left us huge debt at the National Health Insurance Scheme, but we have been able to pay much of it. We are trying to mobilize money to develop this country.”
He noted that Ghana is on the verge of reclaiming its lost glory as the shining star of Africa under his leadership. He donated GH¢20,000 to the church towards some projects.
Earlier, Bishop Mathew Kwasi Gyamfi, quoting from the scriptures, said on the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit did not come to spoil the culture of diversity, but rather fostered unity by making sure that all the tribes that had gathered there heard the voice of God.
He therefore, urged the congregants not to allow the different tribes and cultures in the country destroy the nation, but should use it as a unifying force to help one another.
He praised the president for his vision and good polices for the nation. He asked Ghanaians to pay their taxes regularly and pray for God’s blessings for the president, his vice and government appointees.
