The nation will bid farewell to the late former First Lady, Her Excellency Theresa Aba Kufuor, as a state funeral will be held in her honour today at the State House.

The solemn ceremony commenced yesterday with a requiem mass at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Cantonments, Accra, marking the beginning of the final rites for the distinguished public figure.

Dignitaries and mourners from across the country gathered at the church to pay their last respects to Mrs. Kufuor, who served as the First Lady of Ghana during the presidency of her husband, John Agyekum Kufuor.
The atmosphere was filled with both sorrow and gratitude as attendees remembered her unwavering commitment to the nation.

Following the morning mass, the state funeral procession will make its way to the forecourt of the State House in Accra today.

Ghanaians are expected to line up the streets to witness the historic event, expressing their condolences and paying tribute to the late former First Lady.

The somber mood anticipated to be palpable as the casket, draped in the national flag, would be carried with utmost reverence.

Amidst the mournful atmosphere, the burial services will take place, with family members and close associates bidding their final farewells to Mrs. Kufuor.

As a mark of respect and to honor her memory, the final funeral rite will be held at the Heroes Park in Kumasi on November 18, 2023.
The people of Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region, will gather to pay their last respects to the late former First Lady. This event will provide an opportunity for the community to celebrate her life and commemorate her legacy.

The funeral proceedings will culminate on November 19, 2023, with a Thanksgiving service at the Saint Peter’s Basilica in Kumasi.
