These Too Shall Pass

Various generations have endured peculiar challenges, history vividly tells us.

The Marshal Plan which witnessed the US pushing some $15 billion into restoration works in European countries destroyed by WWII was one of the greatest strides in post-war history.

The world suffered a recession, the like of which the world has never witnessed.

History might have a way of repeating itself as being evidenced today. The black plaque has come and gone but then, we too have had our share of a pandemic, the economic repercussions of which have had a telling effect on the whole world.

We are not only countenancing a post-pandemic turbulence but the fallout from the invasion of one country by another.

No country has been spared the ricocheting effect of the missile exchanges and the stalling world trade.

Unfortunately, in our circumstances, the foregone are best pushed under the carpet because they suit the purpose, the political project of others who can only be excited by the fallouts. They would have rather it was limited to Ghana.

Being honest and sincere is good and must be upheld at all times even when desperate politicians are at their mischievous best.

There are many feats this government has achieved in terms of infrastructure and others. Even as the economy endures the hiccups of the international setting, road projects and others have not stalled.

The free SHS remains an unrivalled feat which at the time, it was presented to Ghanaians as a project planned for the future, others on the other side of the aisle described it as an impossibility even a ruse.

It has come to pass and many who would have not had the opportunity of accessing education but for the seismic social intervention are beneficiaries.

It is a yardstick for caring governance which future governments would not dare review.

President Akufo-Addo has been told by a revered Ghanaian King to go and tell the success story of his government. He would not have told him to do so but for his acknowledgment of the strides registered during his tenure.

The expensive interchanges have added to the skyline of the country, tangible milestones on our physical architecture.

We are now in a world where because of the propaganda of others, those at the helm must be able to spread word about how much they have done to change the lives of the governed. Under the prevailing circumstances, spreading the word about how far we have gone must be included in the government’s to-do-list as a matter of exigency.

With social media as a catalyst, both the truth and mendacious have equal space but sometimes, the latter gains momentum although momentarily.

The difficult times are transient and like others before them, shall pass and be confined to the dark pages of history.
