Osagyefo Oseadieyo Agyeman Badu welcoming Nana Addo to his palace
THERE WAS spontaneous agreement when the Akyeremahene of the Dormaa Traditional Council, Nana Twum Barima Baffour, while pouring libation at the palace to welcome the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to the place, declared that this is his (Nana’s) year to win the presidential poll.
Extolling the virtues of the NPP presidential candidate, Nana Twum Barima said Nana Addo was one of the few people who were able to voice out their misgivings during the Rawlings military administration. He warmed those who don’t like Nana Ado’s visit to the palace to confer with the Dormaahene, Oseadieyo Agyeman Badu II, and change their minds for better things to come.
Addressing the traditional council, the NPP flagbearer said he was in Dormaa to pay homage to the chief and ask for his blessing as part of his campaign tour of the region.
He said responses from people everywhere he visited indicated that Ghanaians are suffering under the bad leadership of President Mahama. He told the chief and people that he has a lot of good plans to change the destiny of the country and its people.
According to Nana Addo, he tried the presidency for the first and the second times but did not win and pleaded with Ghanaians to give him the opportunity this time around to put his policies in place to uplift the Ghanaian economy. He praised the MP for Dormaa Central, Agyeman Manu, for his laudable achievements in parliament to the extent of rising to the position of chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, and asked the people to vote for him again to continue with his good works in the house.
Responding, the Dormaahene, Osagyefo, Oseadieyo Agyeman Badu II praised the efforts of all political parties seeking the mandate of Ghanaians.
He however, pleaded with politicians to guard against their utterances so that they do not inflame passion, saying party politics is a context of ideas and development and not backbiting. He urged the flagbearer to prevail upon his followers to refrain from insults. He observed that the people of Dormaa would benefit a lot from Nana Akufo-Addo’s policy of one-factory-one-district.
He also appealed to the Electoral Commission to make the electioneering process transparent for no political party to feel cheated.
He prayed to God and the ancestors of Dormaa to guide Nana Addo in his bid to become president of the nation.
