Jimmie Thorne came first in this year’s Tropical Cable Classic Golf Tournament (TCCGT) men’s Group A event held at the Tema Golf Club on Saturday.
Thorne beat the likes of Augustine Manasseh and John Lakpo to finish above his opponents whilst they finished second and third respectively.
For their feats, all the winners took home trophies in the various categories in the annual event.
Isaah Taylor beat off competition from Felix Akuamoah and Taubu Kari to triumph in the men’s Group B event, with Mercy Werner winning the women’s Group A ahead of Mona Myers-Lamptey and Floria Hurtubise.
In the women’s Group B event, Gladys Awuni finished as champion when she defeated Jenny Le and Adelaide Owusu Adjapong.
The Director of Administration & Finance of Tropical Cable and Conductor Limited (TCCL), Theophilus Mensah, noted that his outfit is committed to developing golf through the organisation of the annual competition.
He said they were looking forward to maintaining the competition as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) of reaching out to more athletes in the sport as they invite all other clubs to participte in the annual competition.
“We decided to organise this event annually to help revive golf in the country because we feel it forms part of our corporate social responsibility as a company.
“This year’s event was an improvement on our previous editions and we are keen on maintaining it for the future in order to give athletes the opportunity to compete,” he said.
