Three people have been injured after a residential building collapsed in the early hours of Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Anwiafutu in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

According to the Atwima Mponua District National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Secretariat, the incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. and left the occupants trapped under the debris before being rescued by residents.

The victims, identified as 35-year-old Kidikpa Kpe, his wife, Mary Mako, aged 40, and their 11-year-old daughter, Selina Tetteh, all sustained varying degrees of injuries. Mr. Kpe suffered waist injuries, while his wife sustained wounds on her leg and waist. Their daughter sustained a serious head injury during the incident.

Preliminary investigations by NADMO revealed that the collapse resulted from the weak structure of the building.

NADMO officials have since visited the scene to assess the extent of the damage as well as provide emergency support to the affected family. The organisation has also cautioned residents to ensure that their buildings are structurally sound, to prevent future occurrences.

The victims are currently receiving medical care.
