Some staff of THX 22 Foundation with some members of the community
THX 22 Foundation, a charitable wing of 22Bet Africa, has commissioned a borehole for Have-Fiakpokorpe community in the Akatsi South Municipality in the Volta Region.
Accountant and Compliance Manager at 22Bet, Dickson Assan, said the organisation is committed to improving the lives of people in deprived communities aimed at contributing to the sustainable development goals.
He said the organisation has constructed two boreholes for two other deprived communities, and also supported over hundred people on breast cancer screening since it started five years ago.
According to him, THX 22 was touched by the plight of people at Have-Fiakpokorpe when the Assembly Member for the area shared the challenges facing the community over the years, especially lack of portable water.
He said a preliminary assessment of the situation further revealed that even though the community is faced with several challenges, lack of access to portable water had been the major problem for several years, hence, residents resorted to walking long distances to other communities to get water.
He assured members of the community that THX 22 will not only end with the borehole project but will continue to support them in other areas that would improve their livelihood.
Country Director of THX 22 Foundation, Elo Akabike, said the organisation, just like any other business entity, aimed at impacting many lives and more communities with different projects that will create lasting impacts on the lives of people.
Assembly Member for the area, Japhet Festus Gbede who also thanked the foundation for the gesture, said the borehole provided for the community would serve as a big relief to the community given the challenge of walking long distances to nearby communities to access water.
He however said that though one of their major difficulties has been tackled, the company should remember to extend  a hand to the community in other areas to help improve the lives of the people.
