Top French Aviation Caterer Sets Up In Accra

The Minister cuts the tape to the unit 

SERVAIR, France’s leading airline catering and cabin cleaning company has commissioned its ultra modern production unit at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), Accra.

The Unit which occupies a total land surface of 2,600 meters square is located strategically within the airport space, according to Christian Gauther, Executive Vice President (EVP), SERVAIR Africa.

Mr. Gauther who was speaking at the commissioning ceremony at the forecourt of the Unit said the company has provided employment for 115 persons over the last six years and has the capacity to deliver catering services for 200 flights for its seven client companies including VIP lounges and canteens among others.

“This means we have the resources and expertise to prepare 2,500 meals everyday for our clients.

“With an investment of GH¢14million or Euro 2.8million, the company will continue to entrench itself in the Ghanaian Aviation market as a leader,” he stated

Minister for Aviation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah who commended SERVAIR Ghana Limited for working hard over the years to expand its business through the establishment of the new catering unit reiterated the president’s declaration of 2018 as a “Supersonic Year” for development and economic growth.

According to her,  the commissioning of the unit comes at a time when KIA is anticipating a rise in passenger numbers following  the construction of terminal 3 project which is expected to  enable the travelling public enjoy a warm and friendly traveling experience.

“In line with the President’s vision of making Ghana the preferred destination of choice for travelers, I am also certain that this catering facility will offer travelers variety of meals that meet international standards,” she urged the company.

Cecilia Abena Dapaah also urged the staff to take their respective schedules very seriously in order to meet the expectations of their employers.

The Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited, John Dekyem Attafuah, indicated that Ghana Aviation Company Limited (GACL) has 31% shares in Servair Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the Gate Group.

He added that GACL is on point to work with world class institutions whose efforts will improve standards of its activities in the country.

“Ghana’s aviation industry is adjudged the fastest growing and most competitive industry and our focus is to see this happen at all times” he indicated.
