A FIVE-year-old girl has died after a tipper truck ran over her at Apromase near Kumasi, last Saturday.
The remains of Christabel Otoo has been deposited at the Emina Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
The driver of the truck, Kwabena Baafi, is now in the grips of the Domeabra Police, assisting with investigations.
A police report stated that the unfortunate incident happened around 2:30pm, adding that at the time of the accident, the truck was fully loaded with sand from Asawase and heading for Apemso, its final destination.
Upon reaching Apromase, the truck accidentally knocked down the five-year-old girl, ending her life instantly.
Curious people rushed to the bloody scene to save the young girl, but it was too late as she had died already.
The body, which was covered with blood, was taken to the Emina Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The driver was also arrested by the police and he is reported to be cooperating with investigations, so far.
