South African singer Tyla has once again etched her name into the history books after winning the Best African Music Performance award at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

The victory marks Tyla’s second consecutive win in the category, reaffirming her growing influence on the global music stage. She clinched the award with her hit single Push 2 Start, beating a strong field of African heavyweights.

Other nominees in the category included Burna Boy with Love, Davido’s With You featuring Omah Lay, Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s Gimme Dat, as well as Hope & Love by Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin.

Introduced in 2024, the Best African Music Performance category was created to spotlight African music and artists on the global stage. Since its inception, the category has consistently featured strong Nigerian representation, with Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido and Ayra Starr regularly making the final shortlist.

Tyla’s latest Grammy win further cements her status as one of Africa’s leading musical exports and highlights the continued global rise of African sounds.
