The collapsed building
A six-storey building under construction at the University for Development Studies, City Campus in Sagnarigu has collapsed.
The incident according to reports occurred after a rainstorm on Saturday night.
There were, however, no casualties. Some residents who spoke off-record said they suspect poor construction work led to the building collapsing.
Security personnel manning the campus have refused to allow journalists access to the scene of the incident.
The UDS city campus runs graduate programs and hosts the newly established School of Business.
The latest incident at the UDS City Campus at Sagnarigu comes days after two separate three-storey buildings collapsed at Madina and Adentan in Accra which resulted in the death of one person.
The victim reportedly died after being trapped under rubble following the collapse of a three-storey building at Nanakrom in the Adentan Municipality in Accra.
This incident comes barely a week after a similar occurrence at Adentan. The latest incident which occurred Thursday evening also left one person with injuries.
The Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Alexander Nii Noi Adumuah in an interview said the injured person has been sent to the hospital for treatment.
He said personnel of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) managed to pull out the deceased Friday morning after hours of tracking the victim.
He added that the Police have commenced investigations into the incident.
The latest building collapse comes days after the Supervisor of another three-storey building which collapsed at Adentan in Accra on Monday was arrested by the Police.
