UNESCO Head Lauds Napo?

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh exchanging pleasantries with Abdourahamane Diallo

The new head of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Ghana, Abdourahamane Diallo, has applauded Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, the Education Minister, for improving the country’s education sector.

According to him, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, who is affectionately called ‘Napo,’ has taken education to the next level, which has led to increase in access and quality over the last few years.

Mr. Diallo reiterated the commitment of UNESCO to supporting to the Ministry to achieve its goals.

The head of the UNESCO Office in Ghana made this known when he paid a courtesy call on Dr. Opoku-Prempeh in his office in Accra to officially introduce himself.

Mr. Diallo, who is also the Chairman of the National Commission on UNESCO, also briefed the Minister about upcoming programmes of UNESCO in the country.

He thoroughly talked about the upcoming 03 conference on ‘Comprehensive Sexuality Education’ to be hosted in Ghana by UNESCO on January 30, 2019.

According to the UNESCO chief, the upcoming event would be attended by ministers of education and ministers of health from 15 African countries.

Mr. Diallo was accompanied by the Secretary General of the Ghana National Commission for UNESCO, Ama Serwah Nerquaye-Tetteh.

On his part, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, officially welcomed and thanked Mr. Diallo for agreeing to work in Ghana, promising that he (Napo) and the ministry would give him all the support to deliver effectively.

He urged Mr. Diallo to give off his best to enhance ties between Ghana and UNESCO.
