Vanessa with a baby and a mother
TV & radio personality Vanessa Gyan is embarking on a maternal health campaign with her programme dubbed ‘The Post Pregnancy Boujie Express’ to, among other objectives, educate women.
The programme, which is part of efforts to give back to society, will take place on December 14 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm at Ridge Hospital (Admissions Area – New Building) in Accra.
‘The Post Pregnancy Boujie Express’ is an initiative launched in October 2018 at Ridge Hospital.
Its primary aim is to raise maternal health awareness while educating women on pre and post-natal care, raise fund towards the Ridge Hospital maternity ward and remind women on the importance of self-love while igniting the bond between mothers.
Since its launch, the event has been attended by hundreds of women and continues to draw the attention of supporters.
The upcoming December event is expected to drive the project to the next level.
Vanessa Gyan is delighted to announce Dzifa Gray, Bianca Buckman, Chris Ukata and Babette Vanaalst as the key note speakers for this edition and Selorm Boateng of Vivi’s Aromatic Palace, Chaka of WaterAid Ghana, representatives from Lydia Contraceptives, Sante’s Hair, Virginie of Tea Tree and Akosua Opoku (a registered nurse) as guest speakers.
While the keynote speakers will open up about their personal experiences on the journey of motherhood, the guest speakers’ topics will range from child care safety at home to family planning.
“I’m so proud at the growth and impact of ‘The Post Pregnancy Boujie Express’ over the past year. Honestly, it’s more than I could’ve ever imagined it would be. The dedication to this baby of a project which is blooming so beautifully, it’s a different type of fulfillment that I’m feeling,” the only daughter of Kiki Gyan said.
“Thanks to the generous donations received over the past year, I’ve been able to discharge a few mothers alongside their newborns from the labour/maternity ward at Ridge Hospital. To be honest, this is a lifetime mission. I have so many ideas that I plan to implement but as they say, ‘Rome wasn’t built overnight,’ so I’m taking it a day at a time; a mommy and a newborn at a time.”
“Ahead of the event, I want to say a huge thank you to my sponsors because they have committed themselves to a great cause; a cause that is and will continue to bring change, our headline sponsor Molfix, Ghandour Cosmetics, Sante Hair, Lydia Contraceptives, Kare Products, Carabao GH, Baby Bliss GH, Bon Pour Les Bebe, Tree of Life, Geobek Graphics and IT Solutions and Goldiluck Limited,” she added.
