Charterhouse, organizer of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), has postponed this year’s edition of the nominees jam slated for April 14 in Koforidua until further notice.
The postponement, according to the organizer, has been necessitated by the recently confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ghana and the national directives on public gathering.
A statement signed and issued by the Public Relations Officer of Charterhouse, Robert Klah, said a new date would be announced later, subject to further national directives on public gathering.
It said any inconvenience caused was deeply regretted, adding, “We would like to use this opportunity to remind the general public to follow the preventive measures issued by the Ghana Health Service and comply with government’s recent directives on public gathering, which are aimed at preventing the spread of the virus.”
In a related development, gospel music group, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, is not going to hold the Accra concert of its 30th anniversary celebration on March 29, 2020 as earlier advertised.
This decision by the trio is to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
It is also to adhere to President Nana Akufo Addo’s directive that all social gatherings of more than 25 people must be avoided.
The group has assured that a new date will be communicated as soon as the ban is lifted.
The ‘Bebree’ singers, in their statement, also urged the general public to follow all the precautionary measures in order to stay safe from the disease.
