The women’s wing of the governing New Patriotic Party in the Volta region celebrated this year’s Mother’s Day with the less privileged children of the Remar Ghana Children’s Home in Ho, the regional capital.
All 18 Women organisers in the region joined their Regional Women’s Organiser, Afi Adzagbo to donate assorted food items to the children and spend time with them.
The items donated include bags of rice, packs of tin fish, drinks, bags of water, nose masks, toiletries, hand sanitizers, tomato pastes, a veronica bucket, among others.
Ms Adzagbo interacting with the children noted that the gesture was borne out of the love and care that she has for children, especially the less privileged ones.
Hence, on the day that the world is honouring mothers, she and her fellow women organisers deem it fit to share their widows mite.
She recounted that in 2018, prior to her election as Regional Women’s Organiser she was at the house to make similar donations to them and had always wished to return, however meeting the pressing needs of the many vulnerable groups across the region did not permit it.
Nonetheless she was elated to have made it on Mother’s day to at least to say thank you, “…for your prayers for me had worked,” she noted.
She added that “… today being Mother’s Day, we have decided to also come and celebrate the day with you as our children, and as children you bring blessings and happiness to us. So we couldn’t have forgotten you on this special day.”
Kosi Bodja, Regional Organizer of Volta NPP, who was also present encouraged the children not to let their circumstances tie them down, instead inspire them to study hard, dream big and work hard towards achieving them.
He also urged them to adhere to the various protocols against contracting the COVID-19 virus.
The Caretaker of the Home, William Lartey Edwards, thanked the NPP Women for the kind gesture on a special Day like Mother’s day, adding that “You have shown that you are true mothers.”
