Volta Trade Fair Launched

The Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) in partnership with the private sector, has outdoored the Volta Trade, Investment and Cultural Fair 2019.

The Fair is under the theme “Sustainable Investment & Industrial Growth through Trade Promotion.”

The fair to be held at the Jubilee Park Ho, from November 25th to December 8th, 2019, will give a unique opportunity to potential investors and business people to meet face-to-face and discuss opportunities in agro-based industries, innovative technologies and manufacturing products.

It is also expected to attract investment to the Volta and Oti regions, and enable participants and exhibitors network for the future economic engagements.

Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Carlos Ahenkora, speaking at the press launch commended the organizers for the initiative, saying the Volta region has great potential for sustainable industrialization.

He said government has earmarked two areas in the region for the establishment of factories under the one district one factory initiative.

Mr. Ahenkora further indicated that the factories to be situated in Ho and Hohoe have already been commissioned with five others in the pipeline.

Volta Regional Minister, Archibald Yao Letsa, in a statement said industrial growth can only happen within a growing economy.

He added that the VRCC under his leadership is working towards creating an economic environment that ensures accelerated growth of local industries in the region.

“We can only grow competitive industries when our economies are on the producing end and not at the receiving end,” he added.

“Together we will turn around the economy without donor budget support or aid,” he added.

Mr. Latse said the goal of the VRCC is to create a productive economy where citizens participate in growing the economy adding that the VRCC was optimistic the trade fair will help foster partnership and synergy between Regional Coordinating Council and the private sector to enhance the region’s economic prospects.

This year’s Volta Trade Fair will witness over 200 exhibitors from across the Volta Region and beyond including countries like India, Togo, Nigeria with over 2000 visitors.
