One of the schools to be renovated
The Volta River Authority Resettlement Trust Fund (VRA RTF), in partnership with Pencil of Promise, a non-governmental organization (NGO) with interest in education, has taken over two school projects in the Upper Manya Krobo District to give them a touch of modern status.
The two schools are Anyaboni Presby and Roman Catholic (RC) basic schools.
Both schools will have new six-unit classroom blocks, six-seater KVIP toilets and urinal facilities. Both projects are expected to cost some GH¢370,000.
The VRA RTF will bear 30 per cent of the total cost with the NGO bearing the 70 per cent.
The Country Director of Pencil of Promise, Mr. Freeman Gobah, at a short ceremony to cut sod for the projects, assured the people of their commitment to support schools in the area with their various initiatives in education and sanitation management.
He pleaded with the people to contribute their part to make the projects successful.
Richard Twum Barimah Koranteng, Executive Director of VRA RTF, affirmed his commitment to improve the livelihoods of the people living in various VRA resettlement communities around the country.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Upper Manya Krobo District, Felix Nartey Odjao, expressed his appreciation to the VRA RTF team for their continuous support to the people. He applauded them for the partnership and urged them to do more for the area.
