We Shall Protect Ourselves In Akwatia – NPP To Peace Council

The leadership of the NPP and officials of the Peace Council

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) met with the newly constituted Governing Board of the National Peace Council at the party’s headquarters in Asylum Down last Tuesday.

The discussion centered on concerns regarding the alarming state of insecurity and electoral violence in the country, particularly concerning the recent Ablekuma North re-run and the upcoming Akwatia by-election.

The NPP leadership expressed concern to the Peace Council that their lack of action could lead to violence in the upcoming Akwatia by-election. The party emphasised that “we would not engage in any political violence in Akwatia, but we would be adequately prepared to protect ourselves and also would be ready to fully confront any aggression from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).”
