Dong Tazaa
Information gathered by DGN Online, indicates that one Dong Tazaa, aged 49, has been arrested by Police in the Sawla Tuna District of the Savannah Region for alleged possession of substance suspected to be Indian hemp.
The substance wrapped in 15 black polythene bags concealed in two travelling bags were retrieved from a Samyong vehicle with registration number WR 4533-11 at Yipala when police conducted a search.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday at about 12am dawn and arraigned before the Bole District court presided over by His Worship, Prince Andrew Kudjo.
He was remanded into prison custody to reappear on September 19, 2019.
Addressing the media , the Sawla District Police Commander, ASP De-Graft Adjei, said they received a tip off that substance suspected to be Indian hemp was being transported from Tuna to Wa.
ASP Adjei said he immediately dispatched police officers and the vehicle was stopped at Yipala.
“They conducted a search and found the substance and when asked for the owner of the bags ,Tazaa said they were for him,” he said.
According to him, the suspect admitted that he was transporting the substance to some customers in Wa in the Upper West Region.
“The suspect said for the past two years , that’s the business he deals in as a supplier,” the Police Officer said.
The suspected substance has been transported to Accra for forensic test whiles investigation is ongoing.
