General Manager of Wembley Sports Construction Limited, Nana Antwi, has indicated that his outfit’s vision of getting every constituency an artificial pitch by 2020 is on course.
Last Saturday, the Wembley Construction Limited ‘train’ hit Loso Park at Shukura, a suburb of Accra to begin work on a $300,000 project.
The Shukura project takes their works so far to five, after Kotobabi, Nungua, Dzorwulu and Accra Academy.
He said in his address that, “We have a policy of one constituency, one artificial pitch, and we hope to achieve that by 2020. We believe every constituency deserved an astro turf.
“We are on course, the days of playing on grassless turfs should be over, considering the adverse dangers it poses to players.”
Facilitator of the project, Laud Commey, Chief of Operations at the Flagstaff House has tasked the contractor to finish the project in three months.
He mentioned that the facility which will have a flood light, dressing/ wash and conference rooms, spectator seats etc was in fulfillment of President Akufo-Addo’s Inner Community and Zongo Development policy.
The Flagstaff Operations chief has also instructed that the construction firm engages the youth in the area for its operations to serve as a means of employment for them.
Meanwhile, the pitch construction outfit is expected to break the ground for another project in Tamale today.
