We’re Still Committed To Making Ghana Aviation Hub – Minister

Minister of Aviation, Joseph Kofi Adda, has indicated that the Aviation Ministry remains committed to fulfilling the President’s dream of making Ghana the aviation hub of West Africa.

According to him, the Ghanaian economy, especially the aviation and hospitality sectors have been hard hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

He stated that some aviation workers have been negatively affected.

But addressing journalists at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Monday, August 31, 2020, on measures that have been put in place for the safe reopening of the airport to international flights,
he said the Ministry remained resolute to make Ghana the Aviation Hub of West Africa.

According to him, as a way to support the rebound of the aviation sector, Government had been reducing royalties and landing charges.

He said the Ministry and its stakeholders will strive to adhere strictly to the covid-19 safety protocols laid down by the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service.

The Kotoka International Airport is to reopen to international flights tomorrow, Tuesday, September 1, 2020.

The airport had been closed since March 2020 due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

He noted that the management of the airport will ensure a high level of safety.
