A SICK woman has sadly been gutted into ashes by an inferno whilst asleep in her house at Abuakwa Manhyia, in the Ashanti Region.
Two males, said to be children of the now deceased woman, allegedly set their house on fire, leading to the calamity.
The totally burnt body of the woman has since been deposited in a morgue, as the two suspects have been apprehended to assist police in investigations.
According to reports, the two siblings on Tuesday had an altercation with their grandmother, who also lives with them, and they threatened to burn the old lady alive.
The fear-stricken grandmother did not take the threats of her grandchildren lightly, as she lodged a complaint and sought refuge at the police station.
The two siblings, surprisingly, set their three-bedroom house on fire in the absence of their grandmother.
Unknown to the brothers, their sick mother was sleeping in one of the rooms, and was unfortunately trapped and burnt by the raging inferno.
Residents of the hitherto peaceful area called firefighters to the scene to quench the blaze, but it was too late.
Meanwhile, Assembly Member for Abuakwa Manhyia, Evans Opoku, is reported to have described the action of the two siblings as intentional and deliberate.
According to him, the siblings had planned to set the house on fire to end the life of their grandmother, who quickly ran to the police station to seek refuge.
