A NINE-year-old girl has suffered severe injuries on both hands after she was tortured by a ‘fiendish’ woman, whom she is staying with at Duase in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
The woman, who has been identified as Beauty Inakwe, believed to be a Nigerian, is alleged to have cut the wrist of the girl with a knife and also poured hot water on her other hand.
Beauty Inakwe allegedly committed the act because she claimed that the girl defecated in their room at Duase on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reportedly rushed to the Manhyia Government Hospital, where she was treated to help save her life.
Some angry Duase residents, who witnessed Beauty’s harsh treatment of the girl, subjected Beauty to beatings before handing her to the Duase Police.
Residents of the community said the suspect lives with the victim and her own child in a room, which has no toilet facility.
Beauty, they claimed, usually goes out at night and locks the two children inside the room.
Since they were locked in the room, the victim could not get access to a public toilet facility to respond to natured call, forcing her to release herself in a plastic bag in the room.
The girl’s action, eyewitnesses alleged, infuriated Beauty, who subjected the victim, who was brought from Nigeria to live with her, to severe punishment.
According to the residents the police granted Beauty bail so she could seek medical attention following the beatings she received from the residents.
They also said some good Samaritans, who could not withstand the pain that the little girl was experiencing, have decided to take care of her, so she can recuperate properly.
Police are investigating the case.
