Bernard Antwi-Boasiako
Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, has announced his intention of joining the race for the chairmanship of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The notice was released via a statement dated February 4, 2026, part of which reads: “our party has faced challenges and learned hard lessons along the way. At this critical moment, the NPP demands leadership that is steady, principled and committed to unity.
“A leader who is grassroots personified, who values every member; from our elders to our youngest supporters, and who is ready to make the sacrifices for the party.”
Continuing, he stated, “I Bernard Antwi-Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), having consulted my maker and sought audience with the Council of Elders of the party and the youth, hereby declare my intention to serve as National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party.”
This, he said, he is doing not for personal ambition but to strengthen, rebuild and unify the NPP.
The road ahead, he said, will demand vision, courage and unwavering determination, leadership and bravery.
Chairman Wontumi is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP.
