Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka ‘Wontumi
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka ‘Wontumi,’ has vowed to snatch the three parliamentary seats being held by National Democratic Congress (NDC) members in the Ashanti Region.
There are 47 parliamentary seats in the Ashanti Region, out of which a staggering 44 seats are in the firm grip of the ruling NPP.
The opposition NDC, on the other hand, is holding just three seats including that of Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka of Asawase Constituency.
Wontumi, who is very outspoken, stated categorically that he would lead the NPP to snatch the three seats of the NDC.
“I am promising to win all the 47 parliamentary seats in the Ashanti Region for the NPP before I quit as the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP,” he said.
Wontumi disclosed this while addressing the party’s delegates during the NPP Extraordinary National Delegates Conference, which was held in Kumasi on Sunday.
According to him, the NPP enjoys immense support in the Ashanti Region.
Wontumi, who delivered the address to the party delegates effectively, received applause from the NPP delegates who converged on the Heroes Park.
Touching on other issues affecting the NPP, he said the construction of the ultramodern Ashanti Regional NPP office is currently underway in Kumasi.
He said the new facility would be named after the late Baffuor Akoto, who was a linguist of the Asantehene, for helping to form the UP tradition.
